NGC Compression Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Welding Lead Hand to oversee manufacturing activities including layout, fitting, assembly and welding of structural steel components, pressure vessels and piping systems. The Welding Lead Hand will have previous Structural and B Pressure welding experience and will be able to not only lead, but work alongside team members as a peer in a cross-functional environment. The successful candidate must be available to work various shifts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience with Structural and B Pressure welding
  • CWB certification and/or CWB Supervisor certification considered an asset
  • B Pressure Certification required
  • Red Seal certification considered an asset
  • SMAW (all positions), FCAW/MCAW (Flat/Horizontal) is essential, other welding experience is an asset
  • Must be able to provide references to verify welding skills
  • Has done custom fabrication and structural construction
  • Certified to operate heavy equipment such as cranes and forklifts
  • Valid H2S and First Aid certifications considered an asset
  • Knowledgeable of material handling processes such as WHMIS
  • Experience lifting 45 lbs.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, strong leader and team player, and the ability to work cross functionally in a fast-paced, high-productivity environment
  • Great attention to detail and hand-eye-coordination
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and make independent conclusions
  • Thrives in a fast paced, high pressure work environment

Responsibilities

  • Supervise manufacturing activities and delegate tasks accordingly
  • Provide coverage as an acting welding team member
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance of all quality and safety standards
  • Ensure department goals and objectives are met in a timely manner
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, procedures, drawings, specifications, manuals and processes to determine project requirements
  • Cut and cope material to required specifications
  • Ability to do Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), (MIG), weld pressure piping without repairs
  • Weld using SMAW, FCAW, MCAW welding techniques
  • Weld in all positions
  • Fabricate and install supports for valves, piping and control systems
  • Arrive to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled
