Reporting to the Manager of Production Accounting Operations, the Production Accountant will be responsible for all facets of oil, gas and natural gas liquids (NGL) production and revenue accounting for both operated and non-operated properties in accordance with all government and agency rules and regulations.


  • 3 – 5 years of production accounting experience in all aspects of the production cycle for oil and natural gas facilities
  • CAPPA certificate is required
  • Knowledge of Windows Office is a requirement (Outlook, Excel, Word at a minimum)
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic to meet monthly deadlines/schedules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – will need to communicate with clients and internal staff.
  • Experience with production accounting software a definite asset but training can be provided
  • Knowledge of Petrinex for Alberta and Saskatchewan government reporting is a requirement
  • Knowledge of British Columbia reporting requirements is a requirement
  • Knowledge of Manitoba government reporting or other jurisdictions would be considered an asset
  • Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills is an asset
  • Understanding of Financial Accounting from an oil and gas perspective, would be a definite asset.


  • Volumetric data gathering, calculation and reporting for wells, batteries, gathering systems, gas plants and injection facilities.
  • Analysis of field data and liaising with our client’s field staff regarding discrepancies
  • Ensuring Petrinex (Alberta and Saskatchewan) and other government deadlines are met each month.
  • Ensure wells are compliant with new well set-up requirements in production accounting software and that the vendors, cost centers and DOI’s agree to land records as well as royalty burdens and calculations.
  • Oil forecasting and assure accuracy to avoid penalties and non-compliance fees for our clients.
  • Oil and gas pipeline splits and partner reporting to various agencies and industry partners.
  • Understanding of Gas Plant allocations and reporting from a non-operated point of view; able to verify information with partners and through government agency websites
  • Timely handling of amendments if required
  • Managing provisional assessments and minimizing Noncompliance penalties.
  • Recording taken in kind revenues on a monthly basis and booking revenues, royalty encumbrances, facility charges and accruals utilizing production accounting software or using manual processes.
  • Crown Invoice reconciliation for all West Basin government agencies (APMC, AER, ECON, BCMOG, MMR)
  • Reconciling account receivables and account payables
