The position

Supports sales in selling memberships, advertising, sponsorships and programming that support our members’ business growth.

 

Supporting businesses to be more successful, and especially helping them grow, is the core mission of the Chamber of Commerce.

 

This role is part of the sales team and works with our current and prospective members to determine the right products and services that they need to support their current business challenges. The Sales Coordinator delivers excellent customer service, is a great listener, and can work collaboratively to suggest solutions to both growth-focused entrepreneurs, and business advocates.

 

What it looks like for you

You will be supporting the sales team and the Director of Corporate Partnerships in administration. Preparing proposals, processing applications, and event support are all part of the job description.

 

You are plugged in to Calgary’s business scene; business news-literate and current affairs oriented, with a finger on the pulse of key business issues. This thirst for business knowledge gives you an edge to relate to business owners and corporations within the city.

 

You will spend some of your time speaking to business owners and corporate Calgary, answering questions about their Chamber membership. You strive to deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.

To make this happen you must establish and directly cultivate relationships across a wide range of people and businesses.

Qualifications

  • Education: Post secondary education in business, hospitality, tourism, or another relevant field preferred
  • Experience: 1-3 years of administration or coordinator experience
  • Values aligned with those of the Chamber
  • Background managing multiple clients and a vast network of contacts
  • Flexibility and ability to deliver results
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, track record of initiative, and ownership of work
  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude, ability to maintain grace under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and superior customer-service oriented skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work early mornings and some evenings

Responsibilities

Administration

  • Process new membership applications
  • Ensure that the delivery of member welcome email, member certificates and decal and invite to the member welcome reception are fulfilled
  • Manage the membership inbox and respond to inquiries within 24 hours
  • Update CRM with any member changes
  • Ensure database is updated with correct information and missing data fields
  • Print reports and lists as required
  • Coordinate the renewal process with accounting to deliver invoices and follow up reminders
  • Ensure all marketing materials for sales are current and in stock
  • Member mailouts as necessary
  • Prepare presentations

Events support

  • Assist with RSVP, name tags, and general set up of member welcome reception and open houses
  • Assign profiles in the database to registrations received
  • Reports to: The Director of Corporate Partnerships and Sales
